History of Petri Pest Control Services, Inc.

Serving Broward County and Palm Beach County

Petri Pest Control Services, Inc., a full service pest control company, was founded by Henry C. Petri in Miami, Florida in 1956. In the early 1960′s Petri’s expanded into Broward County when Mr. Petri purchased a small pest control company in Pompano Beach. In 1972, Brendan E. Cavanagh joined Petri Pest Control Services, Inc. when he and his family moved to South Florida from New Jersey.

Mr. Cavanagh’s strong sales ability and his familiarity with public relations served him well and under his leadership the Broward County office grew rapidly during the 70’s and 80’s as he became partners with Mr. Petri. Growth continued when, in 1978, the owners of Petri’s purchased a parcel of land in West Palm Beach, erected a building and began servicing customers in Palm Beach and Martin counties. In 1988 the original Miami operation was sold and the sale allowed Petri’s owners and managers to concentrate their efforts on the two remaining locations.

Mr. Petri and Brendan E. Cavanagh are both past presidents of the Florida Pest Management Association and have served in leadership positions with the National Pest Management Association and Associated Pest Control Association. In June of 1990, Hank Petri was honored and presented the Pioneer Award at the Florida Pest Management Association’s annual convention for his contribution and dedication to the pest control industry in the state of Florida.

In December 1995, a Third Generation in Christopher Cavanagh, joined Petri’s and continues to oversee the daily operations through today. Petri serves all of Broward County and has continued to expand our service territory north into Palm Beach County over the past several years. Through the many years that Petri has been serving South Florida the company has gone through tremendous change and progression. Technology has affected the pest management industry in many positive ways, enabling Petri to improve our communications as well as our delivery of service and response to our customers. One thing that we have always tried to keep constant is our mission: to provide our customers with the highest quality service possible and remain the locally-operated, neighborhood company your community can count on for all their pest control needs.
